Just read a piece in The Times about Ellenor Bland, a Tory councillor, who has been suspended for sending a racist poem about immigrants by e-mail. I put this story in a bulletin yesterday in my Radio News Reporting class, but this is the first time I've actually read the whole piece.
Not too keen on populating my blog with racist literature, so The Times article in full is here.
I particularly like the fact that in her defence, she claims that she isn't the only one to use the e-mail account the poem was sent from:
"I haven't sent anything that I'm accused
of sending. Someone else did. My e-mail
address is something that's used by my
husband too. It's not my personal e-mail
account."
So it's only her husband that's a fan of racist poetry. Well, that's alright then.
