Ten minutes is a long time in radio

We produced our longest radio bulletin to date on Wednesday; a ten minute news programme of which I was appointed producer.

Into those ten minutes, we managed to cram a disco between David (our Middle East editor), Cherie (presenter) and Shaimaa (Mideast expert) on the phone from Mike's office, sports and business reports from a separate studio, up-to-date domestic and international news stories. Oh, and a telephone interview with Sofia in Kenya. Amazing.

Everybody did such a good job, and despite the above-average amounts of profanity leaving my lips during the show, I thought it went really well. Well played to everyone involved.

Next news day is Monday - another ten minute show for which we have considerably less time to prepare. If you 're averse to swearing, probably best to steer clear of the radio department until lunchtime.

Well, so long as my tea has the correct amount of sugar we'll be fine.
